Salary Range: $7,450-$9,055/month
The City of San Leandro, CA is looking for an experienced individual to serve as a Project Specialist II (Planner II) assigned to the Planning Division. The successful candidate will have a strong background in planning, land use, and project management, easily able to process and review administrative and conditional use permits, and site plan reviews, in addition to having a clear understanding of interpreting and applying zoning and development codes and conditions of approval. S/he must be an effective communicator and able to successfully cultivate working relationships with others including members of the public, development community, City officials, and staff at all levels. The Project Specialist II assigned to the Planning Division will be adept at collecting and analyzing data pertaining to zoning and city planning projects and be able to succinctly provide sound recommendations.

Required Experience / Skills / Education
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning, environmental design, planning, public administration, business administration, city planning, architecture, economics, civil engineering, urban design or a closely-related field.
Experience: Two years of responsible experience in economic development, planning, affordable housing, community development or a related area performing duties involving program development, administration, project and program evaluation and monitoring, capital improvement and revitalization.
Licenses/certifications/other requirements: Must be willing to work such hours as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements; travel to attend meetings, seminars and conferences and perform work at various city locations. Classification requires the possession and continued maintenance of a valid class “C” California driver’s license. Possession and maintenance of an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certificate is highly desired.
