Planning for a Healthy Los Angeles
February 17, 2015  at 6:30 PM Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring St. 90012

Join us for a discussion and Q&A on the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles, a new Health and Wellness Element of the City’s General Plan. The General Plan is the blueprint for how and where the city will grow and develop, commonly known the city’s planning constitution. The Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles elevates health as a priority in the city’s future growth and development, establishing a policy framework to make Los Angeles a healthier place to live, work and play. Speakers include:

  • Lauren Grabowski, a planner for Raimi+Associates with more than four years experience in planning for healthy communities. She is currently facilitating the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles through the approval process and implementation. Prior to joining Raimi + Associates, Lauren worked for the UCLA Prevention Research Center as a project manager where she developed and funded an active transportation plan and led efforts in community participatory research.
  • Lys Mendez served as the Outreach Coordinator and Planner for the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles from 2012-2014. Lys has a range of experience with public outreach and participation throughout the Los Angeles region, with a strong focus on giving voice to those in underserved communities. Previously, Lys was a deputy press secretary for Mayor Villaraigosa in Los Angeles and worked as a public information specialist for Riverside County.
