Los Angeles won our bid for the Olympics in 2028. Planning for this event will build on our success hosting the Olympics in 1984 and provide an international forum for Los Angeles to once again look to the future. Along with investing in opportunities for health, recreation, and infrastructure between now and then, what other questions does our city need to consider?
Los Angeles will serve as a laboratory for how mega-event planning can be accomplished over a longer time frame. Will the benefits be distributed equitably across the City? Can Los Angeles achieve a gold medal in using the Olympics as a vehicle to make long-term improvements?
Join us for a thoughtful discussion about the experience of other recent host cities, scholars, and practitioners on what planning for the Olympics means for the City of LA, visitors, and residents.
Olympic-themed hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and drinks will be served. The Program begins at 6:30 PM and will conclude at 8:30, with networking opportunities prior to and after the panels.
