The course series will cover how and when CEQA and NEPA apply to planned project, and the similarities and differences between the two regulations.

This course is an introduction to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). In this course we will provide a general overview of NEPA, its history and purpose, define when NEPA is applicable, discuss the general NEPA process, provide an overview of the types of NEPA documents and discuss the contents of each type of document.

This course will allow participants to understand the key policies, players, procedures and practices of NEPA; discuss the key issues that arise with the NEPA process and how to successfully resolve them; learn how to prepare defensible and usable NEPA documents; and identify common NEPA mistakes and how to avoid them.
