Job Description
The County of Marin is currently seeking experienced planning professionals interested in leading the Community Development Agency. The Director, Community Development Agency is at-will and appointed by the County Board of Supervisors. The Director leads approximately 90 full-time employees within the Community Development Agency and across the four divisions of Administration, Planning, Environmental Health Services, and Building and Safety. The FY20 budget for the Community Development Agency is anticipated to have revenues of $15 million. As community needs continue to evolve, the Director will be involved in a wide variety of planning and revitalization efforts, building, zoning, and environmental code enforcement, grant programs, and administrative functions. The Director will be personally and actively involved in promoting community engagement and encouraging open dialogue in the review and evaluation of various planning and community development initiatives.
The annual salary for this position is $188,240 to $207,522. The County also offers an attractive benefits package, including MCERA Retirement.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
This position requires education equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. An advanced degree is desirable. Additionally, 7 years of experience is required in urban of planning, redevelopment or economic development, code enforcement, environmental health, or a related field, including 3 years in a management capacity at a department head level, assistant level, or equivalent. AICP Certification is highly desirable.
