Senior Planner – Long Range

Job Description

The City of Hillsboro is recruiting for a Senior Planner for the Community Development Department’s Long Range Planning Section.  In this role, you will perform advanced project management and communications work. You will have the opportunity to lead a wide range of Long-Range Planning Section projects and policy initiatives, such as implementation of our award-winning Comprehensive Plan. Other examples include managing community planning for new residential and employment growth areas and pursuing equitable redevelopment of existing Hillsboro neighborhoods and corridors. Duties to also include researching and developing planning policy, and elevating meaningful public engagement to all, especially historical marginalized community members.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Acceptable Experience and Training
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of experience in planning, housing, public policy, or related field. The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Individuals with broad backgrounds and skill sets are encouraged to apply.
 

Licensing/Certifications
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:

  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
