Located in the western portion of Riverside County lies the progressive and diverse City of Moreno Valley, just one hour east of Los Angeles, west of Palm Springs, and north of San Diego. The Planning Division Manager/Planning Official is a single position classification that is responsible for policy development, program planning, budget management, administration, and operational direction of Planning Division functions. The City of Moreno Valley is seeking a collaborative, customer-service oriented Planning Division Manager/Planning Official who will effectively engage the public and use their planning expertise to fulfill the needs of a diverse community. The ideal candidate will be willing to lead from the front and accessible to staff and the public alike. The successful candidate will be directly engaged with property owners and applicants approaching all issues in a proactive and solution-oriented manner; organized, concise, and timely with their work.
Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional and administrative experience in municipal planning and development, at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or program/project management capacity, and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university with course work in public or business administration, city or regional planning, urban planning, or equivalent work experience.
The annual salary range for the Planning Division Manager/Planning Official is $137,488.00 – $193,585.60; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
