The firm works on a wide array of urban design and planning projects including General Plans, area plans, master plans, and zoning codes in California, Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest. About the Position
R+A is looking for a senior planner with 5+ years of experience to work on and manage a variety of projects including comprehensive plans, area/neighborhood plans, community visioning, zoning codes, and other policy and regulatory documents. The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of long-range planning including research, writing policy documents, project management, and conducting community engagement.
Salary and Benefits
Based on their level of experience, the new hire will be an Intermediate Planner, Senior Planner or Associate.
- Intermediate Planner: $75,000 to $95,000, DOE
- Senior Planner: $95,000 to $120,000, DOE
- Associate: $115,000 to $135,000, DOE

Required Experience / Skills / Education
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in urban planning, urban design or a related field.
- Experience working on a range of long-range planning documents including, but not limited to, General Plans, Specific Plans and zoning codes.
- Knowledge of a range of planning topics including land use, community design, climate change and adaptation, mobility planning, environmental justice, and/or parks and open space.
- Experience with software commonly used in planning such as Adobe Creative Suite, and ArcGIS.
- Knowledge of local land use planning law in California is a plus but not required.
