APA Los Angeles Presents: Little India Walking Tour
May 24, 2025  from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Little India, 18529 Pioneer Blvd, Artesia, CA 90701

Join Interim Director of City of Artesia Mr. Salvador Lopez, Jr and PlaceWorks Principal Alan Loomis in a walking tour of Downtown Artesia. Mr. Lopez has over 26 years of planning experience that has involved public and private sector employment that spans all aspects of planning, including current, advanced, and environmental planning, as well as active transportation planning and housing and community development. Alan Loomis, AICP is an urban designer, planner and educator practicing in the Los Angeles area. He is based in the PlaceWork’s Los Angeles office. He plays a key role in high-profile design projects throughout California and is responsible for managing PlaceWorks’ urban design practice in the Los Angeles region, including the Artesia Downtown Specific Plan.

The tour would cover the proposed Artesia Downtown Specific Plan, that is to be considered by the Planning Commission on June 17th, with City Council consideration in July. The Specific Plan would implement new land use, zoning, and development standards to guide the scale of future development and growth in Artesia’s Downtown district as the City prepares for the planned expansion of a new Metro light rail line (referred to as the Southeast Gateway Line) that will connect southeastern Los Angeles County communities, including Artesia, to Downtown Los Angeles.
