Associated Students of Planning and Development at USC have partnered with local nonprofit ELACC in Boyle Heights to donate repossessed bikes from USC to kids in the Boyle Heights community. In order to receive the bikes, kids must attend a training workshop on maintenance and bike safety. Before the bikes can be handed out, they need to be in good working order. On Friday, March 20th, we’re hosting a bike repair day in anticipation of the workshop on Saturday, April 11th.

Repair Day: March 20th (Friday)- 1pm-5:30 pm.

We still have 15 bikes to fix up! All skill levels needed. Tasks range from putting on reflectors and cleaning to more advanced repair work.  Any and all bike repair tools you can bring along to help are much appreciated.

Workshop: April 11th (Saturday) 9am-5pm

We will run two workshops of ten people on the 11th, one from 9:30-12:30 and another from 1:30-4:30.  Let me know if you can make either or both.  Tasks include a workshop on bike rules and safety, fitting people on a bike, and helping participants feel comfortable riding.
