This second DEI in the Workplace series will focus on the public sector. The presentation is designed for planners and related government professionals to have an understanding of what is meant by authentic equity work in government, with examples from community engagement practices. Speakers will discuss and dissect their recent efforts at the City of San Jose, including setting up an organizational framework for racially equitable outcomes, bringing racial equity awareness to the organization, normalizing racial equity concepts, forming interdepartmental working groups, organizing long-range planning efforts to maximize engagement from marginalized communities, and an overview of other useful projects and lessons learned over the last three years. The listeners will leave the webinar with ideas that they can adapt to their settings. The presentation will be followed by an extended Q&A session.
