EVENT INFORMATION: MOVED FROM 3/30 DUE TO RAIN. The APA Latinos and Planning Division, in collaboration with the APA Arts and Planning Division and the APA California Los Angeles Section, presents the LUGARES Mobile Workshop walking tour. During this event, participants will have an opportunity to learn about the early history of El Pueblo de Los Angeles and how it grew to a major global destination. Placita Olvera and Olvera Street will serve as the backdrop featuring the tour’s focal point: America Tropical, David Alfaro Siqueiros’ controversial mural painted in the 1930’s and an art gem rescued by art advocates and historians.
TRANSPORTATION:
El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument is just west of Los Angeles Union Station with direct transit access is available from the Metro A (Blue/Gold), B (Red), D (Purple), and J (Silver) Lines, Metrolink Antelope Valley, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura County, and 91/PV Lines, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, and multiple Metro and municipal bus lines. |
