This session discusses best practices for removing participation barriers and building resident capacity and leadership in planning. Staff and residents will share the strategies, tools and partnerships that resulted in meaningful engagement with residents who had not previously took part in City planning efforts.
Speakers include:
- Megan Hunter, Community Development Director
- Lisa Brinton, Planning Manager
- Jonathan Moore, Senior Planner
- Monica Gurmilan, Associate Planner
- Christina Santana, Resident/Steering Committee Member
This is the first webinar in APA California’s “Rethinking the Planner’s Toolbox” webinar series. Building upon the Big Conversations from the 2020 APA California Virtual Conference (Racism and Bias in Planning, Housing California, and Planning for the Future), this webinar series focuses on implementation, highlighting programs and practices that have demonstrated success across the State. Our professional development team welcomes ideas for case studies and best practices for future webinars; please contact profdev@apacalifornia.org.
