Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, 10 miles north of San Jose and 35 miles south of San Francisco, the City of Mountain View is home to approximately 80,000 residents and many internationally known corporations such as Google, Microsoft, Intuit, and LinkedIn, as well as the NASA Ames Research Park and a thriving small business base. The City is seeking a strong manager with proven leadership capabilities to serve as the new Planning Manager. The ideal candidate will be someone with both a strong technical background and the interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. He or she will be someone who is firm but fair in his or her dealings with staff, encourages professional development, and embraces the role of mentor. This position will require a responsive, service-minded individual who takes initiative and thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. The annual salary range for this position is $123,763.64 – $160,892.87 (effective 7/1/18 and includes 4% COLA), DOQ. Required Experience / Skills / Education
The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Urban or Regional Planning, Architecture, or a closely related field; and five (5) years of professional urban planning experience with at least one (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to a Deputy Zoning Administrator with the City of Mountain View. A Master’s degree will be valued. Membership with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or the ability to obtain membership, is strongly preferred. Candidates must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License.
