About the Position:
ESA is seeking to fill a prominent Senior Project Manager opportunity in one of our Los Angeles offices (Los Angeles, Pasadena, or Santa Monica). The position is focused on the provision of high-quality environmental analysis leadership and senior project management oversight for important marquee projects within the Los Angeles region. Initially, projects will be focused on the provision of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) services, but a broad and dynamic outlook, vision, and approach is necessary in addressing the needs of our clients and markets in the Los Angeles area. An emphasis will be placed on high-caliber client management and support. Essential to the position is the ability to participate in the leadership of our growing environmental practice. Specific opportunities are available leading medium to large CEQA and environmental contracts with both private and public clients. Project types include a wide range, such as urban infill and high-rise development, campus projects (including hospitals and studios), transportation, and planning/resiliency. Critical responsibilities include client interface and leadership roles, such as contract management, task order management, technical analysis and management, and development of business opportunities. Responsibilities include directly managing internal project teams and subconsultants, mentoring and directing staff, and assisting with overall group administration. The roles involve direct client interaction, proactive business development, and the preparation of competitive proposals.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
The ideal candidate must possess effective problem-solving ability, client interface and management experience, exceptional writing and editing capabilities, and demonstrated experience in effectively developing and managing project budgets and timelines, including performance of internal technical teams and subconsultants. Expertise in CEQA is required, along with strong knowledge of and experience with a range of environmental disciplines in order to effectively manage our multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires the initiative, confidence, and tenacity to uphold ESA’s strong work ethic and to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, team environment and to manage to our fiduciary responsibility as an employee-owned firm. Experience working with private and public clients in a private consulting role is necessary. Qualified candidates will have at least a BA/BS in a related discipline and 10 to 20+ years of experience. The position will be calibrated to a candidate’s level of experience.
