The County of San Luis Obispo seeks a Planner II/III to join the Department of Planning and Building. - Planner II/III: $62,545 – $84,656 annually DOE/DOQ

THE JOB and the IDEAL CANDIDATE
Planner II/III
The Planner II/III position works on complicated and controversial planning projects, including processing land use permits and applications, providing regulatory and policy advice, presenting to the public, elected officials, and other local, state and federal agencies.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, planning expertise, and be effective at building relationships with stakeholders. Candidates will be self-motivated and solution-oriented, as well as have strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset. An understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to environmental and land use planning, including CEQA, is highly desirable.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited institution with either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban and regional planning, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, natural resources management, environmental, physical or life science, or a closely related field. (Para-professional or higher level job related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Planner II: One year of professional level experience in urban and regional planning or environmental review and analysis.
- Planner III: Two years of professional level experience in urban and regional planning or environmental review and analysis.
- A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
