VOLUNTEER PLANNING INTERN OPPORTUNITY

The City is looking for volunteers willing and able to work alongside City staff in serving the community.
THE POSITION(S):
Under direct supervision, the Planning intern volunteer will perform a variety of responsible administrative, technical and clerical duties in support of the Community Development Department’s Planning division.
This position will assist Planning staff performing a wide variety of duties including but not limited to; entry-level current and long-range planning activities; provide professional and technical support; assist with reviewing architectural plans for new residential construction; provide customer service; assist the public with inquires at the counter and over the phone; provide administrative support; assist with the new zoning code(s); draft letter reports and other materials; and perform special projects and assignments as requested. This is a part-time volunteer intern position.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
- Applicants must be a registered student (undergraduate or graduate) or a recent graduate (within the last six months) from an accredited university in a planning program or a related field.
- Applicants should have a basic understanding of planning principles, and possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of submitting employment application
- Possess a valid Identification Card or Driver’s License
