Job Description
Impact Sciences, a women-owned small business, is an environmental planning and consulting firm headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in San José and Oakland. Our primary service areas are California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act (CEQA/NEPA) compliance. Impact Sciences is a growing company seeking emerging professionals to participate in our 2021 Summer Internship Program, an opportunity to receive direct mentorship from our firm’s experienced environmental planners and technical specialists.
Responsibilities will be varied and may include research, data analysis, and information gathering in support of environmental compliance documents (environmental impact reports, mitigated negative declarations, etc.). The role may also include providing general support to the principals, project managers, and production staff, needed. In short, duties will be varied. A day could include writing thought leadership content for the website or assisting technical staff in the field taking noise measurements.

Required Experience / Skills / Education
Requirements
An ideal candidate must possess effective problem-solving ability and a “can-do” attitude. Knowledge of CEQA and NEPA is preferred, but not necessary. A proactive attitude and the ability to take initiative with minimal direction are essential.
Rotating Focus Areas
This is a three-month commitment with a rotation of the following focus areas and mentorship opportunities:
- General Planning: Notice postings and general CEQA related project work
- Project Management Skill Building (budgeting, scheduling, project management software)
- Technical Services (an introduction to air quality, greenhouse gases, and/or noise technical studies)
- Business Development of the Environmental Consulting Firm
