2021 Environmental Planning Internship

Impact Sciences, Inc. / Los Angeles (Remote Working Optional)
Posted on: June 18, 2021

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Job Description

Impact Sciences, a women-owned small business, is an environmental planning and consulting firm headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in San José and Oakland. Our primary service areas are California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act (CEQA/NEPA) compliance. Impact Sciences is a growing company seeking emerging professionals to participate in our 2021 Summer Internship Program, an opportunity to receive direct mentorship from our firm’s experienced environmental planners and technical specialists.

Responsibilities will be varied and may include research, data analysis, and information gathering in support of environmental compliance documents (environmental impact reports, mitigated negative declarations, etc.). The role may also include providing general support to the principals, project managers, and production staff, needed. In short, duties will be varied. A day could include writing thought leadership content for the website or assisting technical staff in the field taking noise measurements.

We actively promote diversity and inclusivity within our workplace and through our actions.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Requirements

An ideal candidate must possess effective problem-solving ability and a “can-do” attitude. Knowledge of CEQA and NEPA is preferred, but not necessary. A proactive attitude and the ability to take initiative with minimal direction are essential.

Rotating Focus Areas

This is a three-month commitment with a rotation of the following focus areas and mentorship opportunities:

  1. General Planning: Notice postings and general CEQA related project work
  2. Project Management Skill Building (budgeting, scheduling, project management software)
  3. Technical Services (an introduction to air quality, greenhouse gases, and/or noise technical studies)
  4. Business Development of the Environmental Consulting Firm

Acknowledgment and adherence to Impact Sciences’ Core Values is a must:

  • We do what we say we’re going to do.
  • We work together collaboratively.
  • We talk out problems.
  • We respect each other.
  • We are curious about ideas.
  • We provide tools to succeed.

Application Instructions

Are you an aspiring environmental planner with an interest in interning at Impact Sciences? We want to hear from you! Send your resume to careers@impactsciences.com.
