PLANNING PRACTICE

DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is seeking a seasoned CEQA practitioner to manage and/or assist with environmental planning projects of varying complexity in the Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate would be based in our Long Beach office, with the opportunity to work remotely. We are ideally seeking candidates with 8+ years of progressively responsible experience on CEQA projects, although particularly strong candidates with 4-8 years of experience will also be considered, offering an opportunity for mid-level professionals who are looking to take the next step in their career. Strong client/industry relationships in southern California with public and/or private entities is preferred, but not required.
•The best part of being a Senior Environmental Planner in Michael Baker’s Long Beach office is that no two days will be the same. You will face different challenges every day as you manage and/or assist with complex environmental planning efforts.
•As a Senior Environmental Planner, this position will involve the management and preparation of EIRs and other CEQA/NEPA documents for clients specifically in the Los Angeles area.
•Team coordination, some business development pursuits and working both with our local professionals and the other offices of Michael Baker International are all in a day’s work.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Planning, Ecology or a related field, a Master’s degree is desirable.
•Minimum of 8 years of experience, preferably including management experience, in CEQA and/or NEPA document preparation. Particularly strong candidates with 4-8 years of experience will also be considered, offering an opportunity for mid-level professionals who are looking to take the next step in their career.
•To be successful, you’ll need to be bright, organized, and determined; you’ll also need to be able to build relationships with a wide variety of people.
•Of course, you’ll have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
•A desire to produce first-class work products is essential; you’ll need a demonstrated personal commitment to accuracy and quality.
•You’ll need to be able to quickly get up to speed on our policy, procedures and relevant software while acquiring an understanding of the company’s service offerings, and the standards relevant to your projects.
