Job Description

AECOM is seeking a community outreach and communications specialist based out of the Los Angeles or San Diego, CA, office. This position could include opportunities to work throughout the state, with an additional focus on the San Francisco Bay Area. Experience designing equitable and inclusive outreach programs, and Spanish language fluency, highly desired.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the AECOM U.S. West Region and its clients in several business lines, including buildings and places, water, environment, transportation, and energy. This position includes the following duties: strategic engagement planning; all aspects of planning and executing a full range of stakeholder-focused meetings, workshops, and other forums; coordination and partnership with Community Based Organizations, applying a diverse set of process skills including facilitation; designing and conducting effective community and stakeholder engagement; supporting development of project proposals and identification of new business opportunities; project and client management; and support of contract administration.

The ideal candidate is a communications and stakeholder engagement practitioner with experience planning and executing communications and community engagement programs in Southern California, with a focus on equity and inclusion in process and outcomes. This candidate will also have a track record of successful management of complex engagement processes. Demonstrated experience working with Community Based Organizations as part of an engagement process is a significant plus.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Planning, or a related field
  • 4 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish, or other languages in addition to English, is a significant plus
  • 5-8 years of experience with communications and/or stakeholder engagement
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in the fields of urban planning, public policy, and equity is desired
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Familiarity with community engagement best practices and evaluation measures
  • Experience planning and executing strategic communications programs
  • Ability to understand complex issues and simplify for broader audiences
  • Ability to work at client locations in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas
  • Desire to take on new challenges and help identify solutions
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $115,000.
