Job Description

Ventura is just 30 miles south of Santa Barbara and 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles. A spectacular shoreline, a beautiful historic Downtown, and a variety of arts, culture, and entertainment options make Ventura a popular destination.  Reporting to the Community Development Director or Assistant Director and supported by a team of nine (9) planners, Ventura’s Planning Manager will have the opportunity to play a vital role in large development projects and department initiatives.

 

Required Experience / Skills / Education

This working manager will join a talented team to provide the City’s current and long-range planning needs. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative urban planning professional who embraces innovative planning strategies, including form-based codes, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Competitive candidates will offer a combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field and five years of professional planning experience with at least two years of administrative/supervisory responsibility for a major planning function.  Master’s degree preferred.

Salary is $124,790 – $167,219 (potential additional COLA in  FY 23-24) supplemented by attractive benefits. Placement within range DOQE.
