City of Beverly Hills, CA / Beverly Hills, CA
Posted on: July 10, 2023

Application Deadline: August 14, 2023

Job Description

Director of Community Development

City of Beverly Hills, CA

The City of Beverly Hills, located in Los Angeles County and bordered by the cities of West Hollywood and Los Angeles, serves a residential population of 31,000 that swells significantly during the day due to its vibrant business community and visitors from around the globe.  Much has changed over the decades except the desire to keep the community special. The City has established a tradition of providing residents, businesses, and visitors with a superior quality of life.

The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a collaborative, solution-oriented leader to serve as the Director of Community Development.  As a key member of the Executive Team and public facing ambassador for the City, it is necessary that the Director be approachable, engaging, politically astute, and a skilled communicator and listener.  The ideal candidate must have seven years of increasingly responsible management level experience in municipal planning, community development, economic development or a closely related field.  At least five years of experience must have been in a public jurisdiction and must have included the direction of professional staff.  The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, public or business administration or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in planning, public or business administration is highly desirable.  Certification as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and ICBBO Certification in administration are desirable.  The annual salary range is $211,879 to $306,589, and the City provides a competitive benefit package.
