Job Description

The Psomas Land Use Planning and Entitlements Team is seeking a full-time Urban Planner for our Downtown Los Angeles location. This person will provide land use planning and entitlement support for exciting development projects across Southern California, applying land use policies and best practices in the preparation of land use entitlements, design, and site planning with local government entities.

Compensation

$75,000-90,000 per year – Compensation is dependent on experience, education, and other factors of candidate and is not a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.

Responsibility Highlights for our Urban Planner – Land Use Planning and Entitlements

The Urban Planner will perform preliminary zoning investigations and field studies. In addition, you will prepare and work in current planning, zoning, subdivision, and land use applications, including necessary findings, for projects in greater Los Angeles area.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Minimum Qualifications to be our Urban Planner – Land Use Planning and Entitlements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior experience is required (Title, job responsibilities and salary will be commensurate with your level of experience)
  • Experience with writing findings for projects and assisting in presentations for public hearings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of CEQA, Planning and Zoning laws, and the Subdivision Map Act
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office: Word, Excel and Power Point

Preferred Qualifications for our Urban Planner – Land Use Planning and Entitlements

  • Advanced degree in planning
  • InDesign and other Adobe programs
