Under the general direction of the Senior Transportation Planner, the incumbent will assist, support, and or lead a variety of critical districtwide and statewide Transportation Planning tasks which include but are not limited to: developing long-range multimodal transportation corridor planning documents in line with Department goals; coordinating District freight planning activities by analyzing and participating in regional and local goods movement efforts; coordinating air quality conformity activities as required by South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD); managing District’s Park & Ride program; and providing District input in the development of statewide modal plans. The work will require strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team-setting and track multiple deadlines, as well as a deep commitment to the Department’s strategic vision, mission, values, and goals, to provide excellent customer service, and to advance equity through all efforts.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Transportation Planner Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
