About the Senior Planner position
The City of Millbrae has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Planner to join our planning team in Millbrae. The Senior Planner will be the lead staff planner responsible for a wide variety of current and long-range planning projects including Millbrae’s upcoming Multimodal Integrated Transit Station Plan, development of the City’s first Objective Design Standards and the formation of a new specific plan for the City’s east side. The Senior Planner will represent the City’s planning efforts for the forthcoming high speed rail station to serve the San Francisco International Airport, the only planned high-speed rail station on the San Francisco Peninsula. This unique opportunity offers a seasoned professional the ability to engage in large-scale planning projects with regional significance while serving a charming, diverse community with a small-town feel.
About the position’s benefits

Required Experience / Skills / Education
More About You:
- Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in city or regional planning, urban planning, public policy, or a closely related field. Master’s degree in a related field is highly desirable.
- Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly professional work experience in municipal planning. Two (2) years of experience can be substituted by a Master’s degree.
- Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record
The following skills and experience will also be essential:

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
- Ability to apply technical knowledge and explain information to different audiences
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and trends of municipal planning, urban design, and zoning
- Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to land use and zoning, including environmental laws, regulations, and review processes
