The Active Streets LA participatory planning model typically consists of several three-part community events: festive, family-centered programming, a community mapping ride and walk audit, and charrettes–community feedback opportunities. The final outcome of these events are conceptual designs for Neighborhood Enhanced Network streets designed with community needs in mind. The conceptual designs can then be used to pursue funding to implement the measures.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in public engagement (civic engagement or advocacy) and an academic or professional background in urban design or pedestrian and bicycle connectivity planning.
