Job Description
The Department of Development Services is seeking an Administrative Intern (Non-Career) to gain practical experience in a municipal planning environment. The Administrative Intern will be assigned to the Planning Bureau, Current Planning Division and would be exposed to all aspects of the development review process.
The is an unclassified (Non-Civil Service) position. Non-Career positions typically average 27 hours per week; up to a total of 1404 hours in a year.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Performs analysis to help improve the operational efficiency of the Planning Bureau
- Supports Planning staff with research on proposed projects
- Studies Advance Planning initiatives
- Provides assistance to the Current Planning Officer and Advance Planning Officer, as needed.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to high school graduation and must be currently enrolled in a college or university or other continued educational program, including vocational or certified training programs. (proof required)
Knowledge of:
- Modern English usage
- Computers and related software applications
Skill and Ability to
- Compile, review and evaluate data
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
