Job Description
Nevada County, California is offering an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced planning professional interested in leading the Community Development Agency. The CDA Director is an at-will position that reports directly to the CEO and provides expert professional assistance to the Board of Supervisors and County management staff. This position has high level oversight of all activities and operations of the Community Development Agency and provides leadership in the on-going management of Agency programs. The expansive range of oversight for the CDA Director includes the following seven departments/divisions: Agricultural Commissioner, Building, Code Compliance and Cannabis, Environmental Health, Planning, Public Works (Engineering, Fleet, Roads, Sanitation District, Solid Waste, and Transit), and centralized CDA administration. In addition, the CDA Director serves as a key Economic Development partner with developers, businesses and community service organizations, and as top advisor to the County Executive Officer.
The annual salary range for the CDA Director is $166,533 to $203,302 effective July 11, 2021. In addition to a competitive salary, the County offers an excellent benefits package, including CalPERS retirement.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience which includes program planning and evaluation, budget management, fee development, personnel administration, and policy implementation. Additionally, enrollment in the California State Association of Counties Senior Executive Credential Program with completion within 2 years of hire date is required.
