Job Description
The County of Marin is conducting a statewide and national search to attract highly experience planning professionals as candidates for the Assistant Director of the Community Development Agency (“Assistant Director”). The Assistant Director is at-will and is appointed by the Director of the Community Development Agency. In support to the Director, the Assistant may also provide administrative oversight and policy direction to the Agency, and is significantly involved in developing, implementing, and managing strategic goals and planning initiatives that are the culmination of a transparent and collaborative effort based on the involved stakeholder groups and policy direction of the County’s Leadership. Additionally, the Assistant Director directly supervises the two Deputy Directors overseeing (1) the Building and Safety Division and (2) Environmental Health Services Division, as well as the Administrative Services Director, and other managers and supervisors of the Current Planning, Advanced Planning, Affordable Housing/Federal Grants, Environmental Planning, and Sustainability programs. Additionally, the Assistant Director supports the Director by working to achieve the Agency’s performance plan initiatives and other high priority projects.
The annual salary for this position is 158,558 to $174,428. The County also offers an attractive benefits package, including MCERA Retirement.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience is in land use planning, 2 years of which were in a management capacity in a professional position or public sector land use agency/department. AICP Certification or a Master’s degree is highly desirable.
