Project Assistant (part time)

Job Description

LADOT Transit is hiring Project Assistants to support the Operations, Planning, and Specialized Transit Divisions.

Project Assistant duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in data collection, designing reports and presentations, and analyzing trends related to transit performance and metrics
  • Support development of content and graphic materials for social media and digital marketing
  • Conduct research and analysis to plan transit services and areas for fixed-route programs,
    on-demand transit programs, and other emerging technology, including field visits
  • Write and proofread correspondence, process invoices for payment, and other administrative tasks
  • Support development, implementation, and coordination of new and existing grant funded programs including electric bus procurement and bus facility electrification

Work Schedule: Project Assistants will work Monday through Friday, approximately 25 hours per week. The exact work schedule will be determined upon hire, based on operational needs and the appointee’s availability. The total hours worked cannot exceed 1,040 hours in a service year.

Compensation: The current rate of pay is $25.30 per hour.

Job location: LADOT Transit staff are currently telecommuting, but may return to the office at an undetermined time in the future to LADOT’s headquarters office: 100 S. Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

About LADOT Transit: LADOT Transit is the operating division of the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation and is the largest operator of municipal transit services in Los Angeles County providing over 20 million trips each year by commuter bus, neighborhood circulator bus, on-demand first-mile/last-mile service and accessible transportation for seniors and the disabled.

NOTE: Important Information about Exempt Employment : This position is an exempt, at-will position. The incumbent will not accrue any civil service tenure, contractual employment rights, or due process rights.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • LADOT values its team members’ knowledge earned through lived experience or academic coursework in transportation, GIS, engineering, city planning, public policy, or related fields
  • Experience working in a team environment using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Strong analytical, research, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in transportation, transit, or urban planning, and experience with GIS and mapping concepts and tools, statistics tools, and Adobe Design software (InDesign, Illustrator)
  • For those positions which require driving, applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and clean DMV driving record
