Job Description
Under direction, administers innovative business attraction, marketing, and development strategies to support the City, attract new businesses to the community, and support the growth of businesses and key industries; fosters dialogue and working relationships with businesses and developers in the Downtown District; assists with the revitalization of the Corona Mall and medical office developments; collects, compiles, and analyzes data related to economic development and redevelopment projects and programs; acts as a liaison to local businesses and developers regarding Downtown Revitalization, redevelopment and general economic development matters; collaborates with landlords and property managers of Corona business parks and shopping centers to support the revitalization of distressed parcels; and performs related duties, as assigned. The selected candidate will report directly to the Director of Economic Development and administer the City’s Downtown revitalization and citywide redevelopment efforts including the successful implementation of a Downtown Revitalization Plan. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, convener, and collaborator with a proven record of successfully implementing revitalization strategies and attracting private investment that support a diverse and thriving local economy.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, political science, economics, urban planning, or a related field.
Experience:
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible redevelopment, special business districts, and/or economic development experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
