Recent new development projects have included mixed-use and transit-oriented developments around the Downtown Redlands train station, redevelopment of the Redlands Mall with the new State Street Village in the heart of downtown, and an upcoming University Village mixed-use project proposal adjacent to the University of Redlands campus. The City of Redlands Development Services Department consists of the Planning Division, Building & Safety Division, Economic Development Division, and Land Use Engineering Division. Within the Planning Division, there are a total of five full-time planners: 1 City Planner/Planning Manager, 2 Principal Planners, and 2 Junior Planners. The Planning Division is also augmented at the present time by two contract planners who assist with development project review and Planning public counter coverage. The Development Services Director also has a planning background and actively participates in overseeing planning projects and programs.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree with major course work in urban planning or a related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of planning experience including one (1) year of lead experience.
