Job Description

The City of Oxnard (pop 200,000+) is located on the beautiful Southern California coast and is the most populous city in Ventura County. Oxnard boasts a rich history, diverse culture, and a promising future. The Community Development Department consists of 66 positions in Planning, Building and Safety, Engineering and Code Compliance. The Assistant Director will lead and oversee multiple divisions within the department.

Oxnard seeks a strong leader who is eager to learn, train and coach staff, and be inspired by the many opportunities to build a better Oxnard. The ideal candidate will be a working manager committed to delivering excellent work and making a difference in the community along with the team they lead.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in city or urban planning, architecture, civil or structural engineering, or a closely related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience, including significant management and supervisory experience. Professional certifications desired.

Salary range is $129,305 – $206,889 supplemented by a competitive benefits package.
