Job Title: Promotora Network Coordinator

Organization: Los Angeles Walks

Location: Downtown Los Angeles (with work-from-home option)

Position Type: Part-time/Contracted

Compensation: $10,000 (12 weeks, June-September)

Hours: 12-15 hours/week $60/hr 
About Los Angeles Walks
Los Angeles Walks is a pedestrian advocacy organization dedicated to making walking in Los Angeles safe, accessible, fun, and equitable for all. We promote walking and pedestrian infrastructure, educate the public and policymakers about pedestrian rights and needs, and foster safe, vibrant environments for everyone. About Safe Street Promotores Network 
Our Safe Street Promotores Network empowers LA neighborhood residents to lead infrastructure change through dynamic workshops, offering culturally and linguistically tailored education, resources, and vital connections. Our promotores expertly guide community members through the complexities of city bureaucracies and equip them to effectively rally and reach out to officials. Their mission: to secure safe, vibrant street infrastructure for all.
Position Overview
Los Angeles Walks seeks a part-time contractor Promotora Network Coordinator to support our community leaders in completing grant and contract-based projects focused on safe street infrastructure and education. The Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for assisting Promotoras with their tasks, including outreach, workshops, and online office hours.

About Promotores Network

Responsibilities

  • Host weekly check-ins with the Promotora Network (6-10 active members).
  • Track project deliverables and ensure grant deadlines are met.
  • Support leadership development within the network.
  • Create materials for social media.
  • Plan and facilitate group gatherings (virtual and in person).
  • Travel within Los Angeles as needed (a stipend for ride-sharing services can be provided if necessary).

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Essential:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (written and verbal communication).
  • Strong commitment to building a safe, healthy, and equitable Los Angeles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and track progress independently.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including major social media platforms and Google Apps.
  • Dependable, flexible, and eager to learn.
  • Interest in developing processes and structure for a growing organization.
  • BA or graduate degree (preferably in urban planning, social studies, public health, or a related field). Current students are welcome to apply.
  • Personal laptop required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in community organizing and event planning.
  • Experience with media and advocacy communications.
  • Passion for Los Angeles and its communities.
