Job Description

The County of Marin (pop. 260,000) is located in the hills northwest of San Francisco. Marin’s location is ideal, less than an hour’s drive from the coastline, with easy access to the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Counties and all that San Francisco offers. The Planning Division, with a $5 million budget and 21 staff, is responsible for the County’s current, long-range, and environmental planning functions.

The County seeks a passionate, forward-thinking planning professional with a collaborative, team-oriented leadership style and an innovative, creative approach to advancing contemporary land-use policy. They will possess deep knowledge of California planning law and bring a process-improvement mindset. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with successful experience leading meaningful change, improving service, and streamlining processes.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Qualified candidates will bring 5 years of professional land-use planning experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban studies, or a related field.
