Job Description
The City of Azusa is seeking a Planning and Economic Development Manager who is confident, approachable and demonstrates the ability to collaborate while anticipating and resolving issues proactively. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for coordinating the City’s planning activities with other divisions and departments in the City along with supervising the Planning Division and Economic Development staff. The Planning and Economic Development Manager should be a strategic thinker who operates in a results-oriented, active and hands on fashion; who is practical and provides problem solving skills on complex issues, all while possessing the ability to direct, coordinate and supervise employees. The Planning and Economic Development Manager will assist the Director to implement the City’s economic development goals.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
A typical candidate will have a combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. The selected candidate will have a B.A. degree or equivalent in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional land use planning work typically performed for public agencies along with three years in a supervisory capacity.
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) membership preferred.
