Talk to high school students about planning!
Want to inspire high school students studying planning and urban design? How about encouraging young people to consider planning as a tool for social justice or community empowerment? Want to help build a pipeline to professional planning and higher education for low income students of color?
If you answered yes to these questions, consider sharing your professional journey with young people by participating in Job Talks at the East Los Angeles Renaissance Academy, one of three urban design focused high schools in the nation. ELARA teaches its students design skills and software, but talks like this help students to understand what planning is and how it works on the ground.
