May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to give it a try.

To celebrate, we are kicking off Bike Month with a bike tour of the LA River on May 12.

APA Los Angeles is also hosting two contests, starting at 6 am on Bike to Work Day, May 18, through 6 am on May 25. 

Contest #1: Whoever bikes the most total miles for the week will receive a one-month Metro EZ transit pass, or equivalent gift certificate of $131! To participate, record your total miles on Strava (or your favorite cycling app) and post the results on social media — be sure to tag us @planninglosangeles on Facebook or @apa_losangeles on Instagram!

Contest #2: Whoever reduces their vehicle miles traveled the most over that same week will also win a one-month Metro EZ pass or equivalent! To participate, take three photos of your odometer — on May 11, May 18, and May 25. Post the results and be sure to tag us @planninglosangeles on Facebook or @apa_losangeles on Instagram!
