The Changing Landscape of Mobility
October 21, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Zoom Webinar
Cost: Free
This session focuses on the connections between changing land use patterns and mobility in the context of the pandemic. The pandemic has led to major pivots in business as usual, affecting how we interact, work, and travel on a day-to-day basis. As planning practitioners, what lessons can we draw and share from our experiences over the last year and a half, and what are the some of the implications for the future of land use planning?
Key questions:
- What major changes/innovations in land use have we seen during the pandemic and what are the potential long-term impacts of these/lessons learned? e.g. Transition to remote work, outdoor dining in the public right-of-way, food delivery services, etc.
- Do emerging technologies encourage or squelch local access, and how does this impact equity?
- How do newer micro mobility modes figure into our navigation of cities and neighborhoods?
- Are personal mobility options complementing land use patterns and encouraging sustainability and inclusivity?

- Veronica Siranosian, AECOM
